Today we were back on our own and our mission was to go to Salisbury to see the cathedral, meet up with Paul's friend for lunch and try to avoid being poisoned.
And we achieved all three!
Paul is becoming used to driving around the countryside and i have worked out the GPS ! Neither has been easy. Drivers (not PAul) drive really fast on the narrow country roads at 70 miles an hour. (Do the Maths yourself to work out the kilometers. KM to miles is roughly divide by ten and multiply by 7) .
We found Salisbury, parking and the cathedral. It is a beautiful town with a long history and historic buildings. Lovely parks...
The cathedral is pretty spectacular. Although as Paul says, nothing compares to St Paul's in Rome.
and then inside the church
and obligatory dead people. i actually thought this was a couple, maybe a same sex couple?
The cathedral was also hosting an exhibition of the Magna Carta. You could only view it in a tent and of course no photos. i took a photo of a photo of it.
And this is the the original case for the magna carta which a guy last year attempted to smash with a hammer. Not sure why?
After the church, we found the pub, The Haunch of Venison and Paul's friend and had lunch.
I had a venison stew.
And then goodbye to John and on our way back to Collingborne Kingston.
On the way back to the car, we found another Stone Henge, one i could sit on. So i did.
Stone henges everywhere. A bit boring now.
And back to the pub for dinner and the eternal struggle for good internet access.
Much less stressful today as we have mastered both GPS and driving.
Yes we are incredible.
