Day 12: Crystal

Friday 26/7/19
Today is the last day of our 'trip' around Ireland.  We went from Cork to Dublin via Waterford and called into the 'House of Waterford Crystal'.

In fact, Waterford Crystal no longer operates. It closed down man years ago  causing unemployment and economic downturn for the town.
More recently, someone bought the name 'Waterford Crystal'  and set up a much smaller operation called the House of Waterford Crystal maintaining original patterns  and designs. We did a tour of the factory and saw how the pieces were made.

These were some of my favourites

This is a present for my birthday, oops no, on my birthday to Barrack Obama, he used to be someone.

Waterford is a pretty seaside town and was the only town in IReland that did not surrender to Oliver Cromwell. He is very hated in Ireland.

Look this Viking has curly hair.

And then in to Dublin for our final night which was to be a drive around Dublin and a special dinner at an upmarket restaurant called Roly's.

Some pretty buildings

And then on to Dunleavy bay and Bono's house. One of his houses.

This sign is interesting, Yield!!  rather than Give way.

We are leaving Ireland tomorrow. WE have loved the people, the humour, the stories, the history, the scenery and even the weather.

Ireland, you were incredible.
