Thursday 1.8.19
Today was our first full day in Sefro. We had breakfast at the local bar which has Wi-Fi. Thank God. The house we are in does not have Wi-Fi or any thing technological. L'amberto says he does not need it nor does he have any interest in it.
After breakfast we visited my cousin LallaMaria who was my dad's favourite as she was a small child when he left Sefro to come to Australia. She is lovely as is her husband. He is unwell and having tests to see what can be done. Hopefully all will be ok.
They live in a house that has about 15 steps to get to front door and then another 15 to the living areas.
L'amberto's house has 5 to get to door and then another 15 to get to bedrooms and bagno.
Everyone has stairs which is hard for a person with injured ankle and lumbago.
After breakfast, we drove to Castelraimondo which is big town not far up the road. I visited the train station where i had arrived in Sefro 28 years ago in another lifetime. I had need of facilities as was pregnant and at the time was shocked at the ancientness of the facilities. I wanted to see if any progress had been made in 28 years.
The road back to Sefro is amazing with great views of mountains.
And in the evening we again went to the festival in Seppio for more food and music. But we decided to drive ourselves up even more winding roads.
We went with my second cousins, Matteo and Elisa, their partners and 2 children each. We walked around Seppio which has been knocked around by the earthquake in 2016. Nothing has been fixed and buildings are being held together with scaffolding. Many people are still unable to return to their homes and are living in makeshift houses put up by the government.
This is us at the festival
We were able to leave at a reasonable 10.30ish as we had a car which Paul drove back to Sefro in the dark.
That was incredible.
