Today was fun travelling from Stresa to my father's village of Sefro.
We had made the decision not to drive to Torgiano so were doing the 3 trains and 2 taxi thing.
However we then also made the decision to come home early due to Mum's deteriorating though up and down health. So we decided to miss the 3 days in Torgiano (wine resort). Thank you Paul
All went well with our 3 trains which were all better than the sydney to Newcastle train, even the suburban rains in 2nd class. Our one first class part was in Frecciarossa train (translates as red arrow i think). REally good and we even had free food and drink on board. Not alcohol.
And then we arrived at Perugia airport where we had arranged to pick up the rental car to drive to Torgiano originally and then Sefro.
Perugia airport is very small and quiet. I should have taken a photo. There was literally no one there at 2.30ish when we arrived.
Not even the Avis Rent a car people from whom we were to take delivery of our rental car. IT was hot, damn hot and became much hotter when we realised that the desk did not open till 3pm.
But we had coffee and cake in the Bar while we waited. OK.
But at 3pm, no sign of anyone. The kind people at Eurocar and HErtz said they did not have cars and the Avis people would be there soon though no idea where they were or why they were late.
This did not go down well with you know who. Lots more heat generated, lucky it was air conditioned. Starting to panic.
But finally they arrived, at 3.15 ish. They had been shopping. Everything seems to close from about 1 to 3pm.
Anyway they were a father and daughter and spoke excellent english and we got our car and Paul drove. We were not even out of the airport when we almost went left instead of right around a roundabout. They are very scary and continue to be difficult.
Our arrival in Sefro was quiet.
WE had arrived 3 days earlier than expected which meant a complete change in their plans. We had advised them that day that we would be arriving that day.
We were staying with my cousin L'amberto who lives in the house he says belongs to us. He was at work. WE drove up to my cousin Gian Franco and his wife Patrizia's house. She was there and of course after a rapturous welcome, we had coffee. She understood why we were changing our plans but was disappointed as they were leaving the next day to run a festival in the mountains. And would not be back till late on Sunday night.
She suggested that tonight we should have dinner at another local festival in Seppia which her son in law was organising and working in.
They have lots of these community events with music and food for the locals. Everyone attends, From the oldest to the youngest. Lots of kids running around as well as old people dancing to the piano accordion music (trauma)

My cousin GianFranco and Patricia. Thy did all the ordering/organising and paying. IT has become a bit of a challenge to try to pay for things before they do.
We didn't go to the festa till 9ish and got home about 1am. We did a bit of dancing though the locals were much better at it than us.
And the piano accordion guy was good but i agreed with PAtricia that all the songs end up sounding the same. Same old polka beat. (memories of Zio Felice and horrendous piano accordion lessons)
My second cousin Elisa, for whom we were waiting arrived at 11.30pm with her 2 kids aged 6 and 2. There were heaps of young kids around. Incredible.
